Steps
- Preheat the oven to 400°F / 205°C and line a baking sheet with parchment.
- Mix 2½ cups of all-purpose flour, ½ teaspoon of table salt, 1 pinch of table salt, ¼ cup of granulated sugar, and 2¼ teaspoons of baking powder.
- Rub in 6 tablespoons of cold cubed unsalted butter until unevenly crumbly.
- Whisk ¾ cup of heavy cream, 2 large eggs, and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. Reserve 2 tablespoons of this mixture for brushing.
- Stir the remaining liquid and 1½ cups of dark chocolate chips into the flour mixture just until a moist dough forms.
- Pat into an 8in / 20cm circle on a well-floured surface. Brush with the reserved mixture and sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of coarse sugar.
- Cut with a floured 2in / 5cm round cutter, gathering and reshaping the scraps once. Space evenly on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 20 minutes, until golden brown.
