Steps
- Preheat the oven to 350°F / 180°C. Grease and line an 8in / 20cm cake pan with a removable base.
- Beat 110g of softened butter and 150g of light brown sugar until pale. Beat in 2 large eggs, one at a time.
- Fold in 210g of sifted all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, 1 pinch of salt, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and 100ml of milk.
- Stir in 300g of peeled, cored, and sliced Granny Smith apples. Spread the thick batter evenly in the pan.
- Rub 50g of butter into 50g of all-purpose flour and 50g of superfine sugar until roughly crumbed. Scatter over the cake.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, until a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean. Leave to cool before removing from the pan.
